Boulanger to Stravinsky
36 rue Ballu
May 16, 1957
Finally found someone, Dear Friend, to bring you your microfilm that I didn’t dare trust to the
mail service. The young Jean-Pierre Marty, a real musician, is leaving tomorrow for N.Y. From
there he’ll deliver it to you by air to save time. When he arrives in Los Angeles he will ensure
that everything is in order. If, by chance, you could see him for a moment, it would be such a
great joy for him. He deserves it, but only if it doesn’t bother you.
What you said about Boulez makes me happy—he is serious. He is a good musician, and there
are no tricks or bluffs. He was so happy to have seen you.
I am overwhelmed by Marie-Blanche’s slow agony. Operated on two months ago, she is in the
most alarming state. We expect her death at any time, yet something inside of her is so strong
that she is still alive this morning. What sorrow.
Fond wishes and deep affection,
Yours,
Nadia

Boulanger à Stravinsky
36 rue Ballu

Votre,
Nadia
