Dear Théodore,
It was on the 2nd of March that I learned about the death of your Mother. [This year] I wrote
your Father a little in advance to be sure to be close to him. His response was the most moving
testament that could possibly bring us together around a dear memory.
I revered, I revere your Mother—thanks to you, her image is before my eyes always.

d’avance pour être sûre d’être près de lui. Sa réponse est le plus émouvant témoignage
qui puisse nous réunir autour d’une chère mémoire.
Je vénérais, vénère votre Mère—son image que je vous dois est sous mes yeux, sans
cesse.
