The autograph manuscript of Rilla of Ingleside written between 1919 and 1920 consists of 564 pages. It was donated to the University of Guelph in 1999 by Emily Woods, a retired Ontario school teacher. Montgomery’s extensive marginal and interlinear revisions and notes which appear throughout demonstrate her attention to aesthetic, literary, and pragmatic considerations.
