Hi, my name is Jazel Joy Banaag. I am currently a first-year student at the University of Guelph, majoring in animal biology. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, spending time with my friends and family, and especially spending time with my dog (pictured on the left). In my education, I am very fond of learning about biology; learning about all the different biological processes that make up all life has always interested me.

Other than biology I also have an interest in history, which consequently, helped me in choosing this postcard. On the back of the postcard I chose, there is writing from the person who sent this postcard. I enjoy learning about the history of basic, day-to-day objects, especially when they show signs that it has been used by someone in the past. Although the message was quite simple, I personally thought it richened the value of this postcard.

In this course, I have learned about the importance and value of postcards, how they’re more than simple greetings sent from one place to another. Each individual postcard holds its own significance, but each gives historians a little insight into what life was like during the time period that the postcard was made. Apart from postcards, history has taught me to appreciate simple everyday objects a little bit more!
