About the Curator

Hello! My name is Erin Wagg and I am currently in my first year at the University of Guelph studying Biological Sciences. My hobbies include listening to music and cooking. In the future, I aspire to be an Optometrist or something involving genetics. I also enjoy history which is why I decided to choose the first year seminar History of Stuff. What drew me to this specific postcard was the plaid and the clan name. I knew that every clan had a specific tartan but I was interested in learning more about the importance of the tartan and the arms of the clan. Another aspect that drew me to this postcard was the clan quote since it is very absurd and I wanted to know the deeper meaning. The writing on the back of the postcard added a personal element. In this course, I have gained a lot of knowledge, from learning about Ephemora which I had never heard about before, to learning about the process of preserving artifacts when we visited museums. But the main thing I have learned is how much postcards have impacted and benefited the Scottish Tourism industry.
