About the Curator

history gallery pic.jpg

My name is Riley MacPherson and I am a first year undergraduate student of Biology majoring in Zoology. I am passionate about music, animals, and biological sciences.

I chose this postcard as it represents passionate young love and provides a glimpse into the life of a young woman in the 20th century. There is so much writing packed onto the postcard, it evident that the writer is unable to fit all of her passions on the small amount of space provided. This postcard has captured that love and has allowed it to live on through the decades.

I have learned the meaning and value of ephemera from this course, and consequently it has made me realize the value of our disposable and temporary items we interact with on a daily basis. Although seemingly irrelevant, these items provide intel to our lives and perhaps will be studied by history students in the future wanting to know what living in the early 21st century was like.
