My postcard: contemporary perspectives

A modern look at Inverness

As time passes, it is inevitable that things wear and erode from present history. In this case, we can observe what has stood the test of time physically in its appearance from the postcard through research of its contents today. The city of Inverness for one, is still around. Presently the city is marketed as a tourist destination featuring a Victorian market, and the Eastgate Shopping Mall. The majority of the natural and ancient landmarks still stand today such as loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield, Urquhart Castle and the Inverness Castle. Today the Inverness Castle is used as a courthouse and prison. The castle currently is not open to the public for a majority of the areas. In April 2017 the north tower of the castle was opened to the public as a view point, but at present, only the castle grounds and the north tower are open.

This postcard currently has an estimated value of $6.00 but its true value comes from something deeper than that. Its richness comes from the fact that historians are able to draw new details and information about Scotland at this time that would otherwise be unknown thereby providing a deeper understanding of the Worlds history and its relationship with our current day advancements.
