My postcard: contemporary perspectives

The Exhibition

The exhibition ran from May 1, 1908 to October 31, 1908(Neontology, n.d.). During the six months that the exhibit ran, their were visitors from around the world. At 10 shillings 6 pence, 3.5 million people paid to experience what the fair had to offer. Postcards wee bound to be produced to commemorate visitors time(Gillen, 2016). The fair included the popular foods, fair games and attractions of the Edwardian era such as the Incubator Baby Institute and the water chute(Neontology, n.d.). The exhibtion brought family fun to Edinburgh during the Edwardian era. The fair no longer exists as it only ran during this time period where the International Exhibitions were popular between 1888 and 1911. The exhibition lost traction after the height of their popularity. The only remainig memory of the exhibition is the enduring ephemera produced due to the fair.
