My postcard: contemporary perspectives

Edinburgh_Scott_Monument cropped.jpg

Scott Monument as of March 2012

Everything in the postcard is still around however many things have changed slightly. The Scott Monument remains the same although, there is another building and a statue now aligned with the arch in the middle (see picture). The gardens have been made into two adjacent public parks and Princes Street is now a shopping street. Some parts of the Edinburgh Castle is used as a Museum with others for ceremonial purposes while some of it is still a responsibility of the British army. The N.B. Hotel is now called The Balmoral hotel and is a 5 star luxury hotel. The view from the hotel are still relatively the same however current day pictures of the same view are hard to find.

The postcards holds a lot of informative value of the past but due to the popularity of postcard, it can be assumed that large amounts were made and it therefore, has a low monetary value. However, it can be argued that the beauty of the picture has infinite value.
