My name is Sukhraj Garcha. I am an 18 year old student who is studying computer science at the University of Guelph. I enjoy playing sports, specifically soccer and basketball, and I also like playing video games. Naturally, since I am studying computer science, the concepts related to computers, coding, and technology in general really interest me. I ended up choosing the postcard that I did for a few different reasons. First of all, it looked very unique compared to all of the other postcards that we looked at. Unlike many of the other postcards that were examined, this postcard does not solely depict a building, monument, street, or natural landscape. I thought that because of its uniqueness, it would make for an interesting analysis, which is the second reason I decided to choose it. Additionally, I realized that researching this postcard would allow me to learn about why Gretna Green is such a well-known location in Scotland.

Overall, this course has completely changed the way that I view postcards. I always thought that postcards were just meant to be sent to friends and family when you are travelling somewhere. However, this class has taught me that postcards are much more valuable than that. I have realized that they have the ability to tell stories and to provide insight about what was going on at the time that the postcard was created. Although we specifically looked at Scotland, this course has taught me that postcards from anywhere can be analyzed in the same way in order to make conclusions about the location that the postcard depicts.
