What kind of postcard is this?

tucks and sons.jpg

The founder and heads of the firm: Raphael Tuck & Sons

Raphael Tuck & sons was a business started by Raphael Tuck and his wife and they created the postcard. The postcard was made in Bishopsgate in the City of London in the late 1800s and early 1900s, it was then printed in Englana and sent to The Clan Buchanan family that was founded in the 13th century.

This is a landscape type of postcard and displays the Loch Katrine freshwater, a scenic attraction in the Trossachs area of the Scottish Highlands. It also includes a bilberry plant against the orange and yellow plaid background. This postcard is apart of the Raphael Tuck & Sons series, their business was the best known for their “postcard boom” in the early 1900s and left a lasting effect in the artistic world and the way we communicate today. One thing I do not know about this postcard is the pendant of the lion and the unicorn, and the significance it holds on the postcard.
