About the Curator

Rajpreet Chakkal

My name is Rajpreet Chakkal, I was born in Guelph, Ontario and I’m currently studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph. A few of my interests include sports, traveling and curry.

I enjoy learning new and different concepts and my passion for traveling makes me want to know more about the history of things. The reason I took this course is because it was on the history of stuff which fits in perfectly with something different and fun that I was wanting to learn besides the courses that are part of my major.

When I first looked at this postcard it stood out to me which became a founding reason as to why I chose it. The more I looked at the postcard it made me ask so many questions like what are the names printed on the front of the postcard for? What is significant about the border and why did they chose this specific border? Ultimately my curiosity of the postcard made me pick this postcard.

This course has taught me a lot about the history of Scotland and postcards. Researching using primary resource and how to utilize different types of resources and also enlightening me on the different types of resources available was a really useful aspect of taking this course. Besides the main material of the course a valuable thought was engraved into my head which is that the smallest of things can contain historical value if you choose to look into them more. Everything has value and many of the times the dollar value of an object or thing is not the most significant value.
