Origins

The pamphlet "How to Pack Lunch Boxes for War Workers" was published in 1943 by Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing. It was published at the Mansfield, Ohio factory to wives of the workers who were producing goods for World War II.

It was made by the Home Economics Institute, which was created by Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing as a way to train the wives of their workers on how to better feed their workers and how to keep the homes tidy so as to allow their hard workers more time to relax. (Healthy for Victory Club, 1943)

It contains many recipes, as seen in the pictures on this page, which were considered nutritious enough to sustain the hard working men in the factory.
