Pamphlets are intended to be both informative and easy to follow. They have to use language and be stylized in a way that makes them available to a diverse audience. Pamphlets are valuable as a tool to spread information due to their low cost and ease of distribution.

Pamphlets can be printed on anything from flimsy paper to harder cardstock, depending on how long their use is intended to be. In this case, the pamphlet is on a harder form of paper, allowing it to remain in good condition for a longer time. However, it is important to note that the function of a pamphlet is generally intended to be transient. They are meant to spread information, and once that information is absorbed or no longer necessary, they are meant to be thrown away. Pamphlets capture what the views

This specific pamphlet was used to provide information regarding meat in order to ensure “wise buying, proper storing, careful cooking, [and] clever extending”. It would have functioned as an educational aid to people on the home front during the war. Canadians grappled with the task of making meals with items missing from their cupboards and this pamphlet was a response to those concerns.
