Women were enthusiastic about the presto cooker because it was an easy accessory to prepare meals instead of using many other utensils and materials. It became valued in the way that it shaped family dynamics. Images like the daughter and husband kissing the housewife as though she won affection created a feeling of appreciation, which was a hard goal for women to receive back in that time period. The fast cooking feature helped a housewife prepare a lovely meal for her family while still having time for herself. The pamphlet points out the value that women had for the presto cooker with statements like “when you get a presto… you get time for more leisure” or “ you’ll be a queen 3 times each day when you cook the modern presto way!”. By 1930, the company’s annual net income had surpassed $1 million on revenues of more than $12 million. At the time of the interview, the company was trading for about $40 a share, down from its high of $82 in 1992 (National Presto Industries, Inc, 2017).
