Origins

After Gail Borden Jr. when had patented consended milk, he started The New York Condensed Milk Foundation in a partnership with Jeremiah Milbank (Gale). The company was being supported by Milkbank funds, while Borden Jr. did most of the managing (Gale). Later in 1899, the name was changed to "The Borden Company"  (Gale). They started out with deliveries around New York  (Gale). An article in the paper lead condensed milk to gain popularity, and the company thrived  (Gale). Borden then aquired the Chateau cheese company in 1929, along with one other cheese company (Gale).

The original use of this pamphlet was to advertise uses of Baumert Cream Cheese in order for more people to buy it. It no longer fufills this purpose, however, as we are using it as a piece of ephemera. Ephemera is a collectable - normally 2D - material, in which its purpose is short-lasted ("What is Ephemera?").
