Frigidaire produced this booklet because the company had halted the production of their usual goods and began manufacturing for the war. The job of the booklet was to help the people that stayed at home deal with the rationing of food by showing them what they can do with the limited items they have in their refrigerator. The booklet provides interesting recipes that could be made out what the people had available, as well as giving hints and tips about storing food. (Wartime Suggestions to help you get the most out of your Refrigerator, 1943).
Another probable purpose of this booklet was to advertise the company as patriots. By producing this booklet, Frigidaire was showing the people that they were supportive of the troops and wanted to do as much as they could to help the them. This would have gained the company popularity among the people because during this time everyone knew someone who was fighting overseas. (Little, 2014)
