Preservation

The poster in current possession in the McLaughlin Library Archival & Special Collections is not the original poster, instead is a reprint. The reprint features the original poster’s last known conditions as it shows the torn borders on the left side. Since this is the reprint that is in the collection, we are unable to trace the location of the original poster. A probable conclusion is that the poster was reprinted to preserve the design and content, and that the original was in bad condition.

The reprinted version was made in Gloucester, England, by a company called Orchard & Ind Limited. The company was known for its various prints and is now dissolved. This reprint is now carefully placed under the care of the Archivists of the McLaughlin Library in Guelph, Ontario, where it will be well preserved and cared for in its time there.
