Preservation

This ribbon seems to have been important since it was found within the Sleeman collection at the University of Guelph. Although it is difficult for us to know the exact regions of where this came from or who it belonged to within the family, this ribbon clearly had some meaning to the Sleeman family for them to keep it for all these years.

This ribbon could be seen as garbage, but it is very possible that it could be one of John H. Sleeman's favourite memories or maybe it could have no meaning to him at all. We could never know the true exact meaning behind it, and that is the true beauty with this piece of ephemera.

The ribbon is well preserved, only few strings hanging off the edges, but the words are still dark and not faded meaning that its new home is keeping it safe as well as ready for students to explore the world of the Sleeman family.
