Valentine and Sons of Dundee Postcards: 

The Valentine’s Series of postcards was officially called ‘Valentine and Sons of Dundee’. In 1825 John Valentine began a printing company and his son James was a photographer, they became partners in 1830. By the time the 1860s came around, they had produced photographs taken by James that were sold on postcards. At this time they were Scotland's most successful commercial photographers and this lead to mass production (History of Valentine, 2019). The Bridge Street postcard survived because they were such a popular company that dozens were produced and sold all around Scotland. After the passing of James, his two sons continued the tradition and continued to print Scottish postcards as well as Christmas cards. The company reached Canada in 1903 which could be another reason as to why the postcards still circulate. The Valentine and Sons of Dundee postcards became a public company that reached new heights (History of Valentine, 2019). These postcards have been prevalent for hundreds of years and continue to demonstrate the beauty of Scotland.
