My name is Katie Smith, and I am an English major with a love of history! Throughout high school, I took many history courses that interested me. The courses I took pushed me to choose many similar courses this year, to broaden my knowledge on historical time periods! My hometown is Brooklin, ON. When I was younger I did many activities ranging from ballet to hockey, and eventually landed on amateur boxing. The drive and determination I learned from these activities has pushed me to try and achieve my highest goals! For me, that means becoming a lawyer in the future. I was initially drawn to this History 1050 course by the aspect of travel and tourism, as the development of these things greatly affect the culture and politics of a country! I have always loved learning more about history, and the social and political changes that occur over time. I hope to attend law school in the future, and would like to be in many more history courses throughout my time at Guelph!
