About the Curator

My name is Gabriela Davila Hernandez, I am 18 years old and I’m from Oakville, Ontario. I am in my first year, majoring in Criminal Justice & Public Policy at the University of Guelph. I chose CCJP as my major because of my interest in the criminal justice system and my hopes to pursue a career as a detective. Additionally, I have always enjoyed taking history in high school and considered it to be a natural decision for me to study History 1050, Scottish Travels at UofG. This course has provided me with a new sense of appreciation for Scottish culture and offered me the knowledge on how to analyze secondary sources. Furthermore, within History 1050 I have been able to choose a postcard that will reflect the skills I’ve acquired from this course. I chose On the Garnock, near Kilwinning as my postcard for this exhibit because it drew upon a story. More specifically, this postcard displays the landscape, the infrastructure and the lifestyle that flourished in Scotland during this time period and drew me into discovering more about such topics. We will be exploring more about this postcard and such discoveries later on... stay tuned!
