Austrian Cuisine: Poppy Seed Strudel

We selected Austrian cuisine and a recipe for Poppy Seed Strudel. This recipe was from Lilly Joss Reich’s Viennese Pastry Cookbook, published in 1970 by The Macmillan Company. We selected this cuisine because Silvia’s father and grandmother are from Kitzbuhel, Tirol, Austria. Every time Silvia’s family would go up to visit her grandmother, Rosie, in Austria, Rosie would have prepared Apfelstrudel (apple strudel) and Topfenstrudel (curd cheese strudel). We selected Poppy Seed Strudel because when we looked through the cookbook we stumbled across the recipe and thought it would be perfect. Also, Xinhui had never tried strudel before, so she wanted to try it.

This exhibit was created by Silvia Spinn (Second Year, Hotel and Food Administration), and Xinhui Yang (Second Year, Hotel and Food Administration).
