INDONESIA NASI GORENG

We selected Indonesian cuisine and a recipe for nasi goreng (fried rice).  This recipe was from Sri Owen, The Indonesian Kitchen: Recipes and Stories, published in 2014 by Interlink Books. We chose Indonesian cuisine because one of our group members was born there, and wanted to learn more about her culture. Our other group member enjoys Asian cuisine, but has never specifically had Indonesian food, and was very interested in trying it. As a whole, we both love food and wanted to choose a cuisine that interested both of our taste buds and minds! We chose nasi goreng because it is one of the most common dishes of Indonesia, and is well-known around the world. In addition, nasi goreng was chosen because fried rice is a very likeable dish, so we felt that our classmates would enjoy it.

This exhibit was created by Savannah Buccella (year 4, applied human nutrition), and Edda Wee (year 4, applied human nutrition).
