Based on our analysis, this recipe is not considered to be part of a healthy diet. Although it is fairly balanced as it contains meat, carbohydrates and a vegetable portion, if eaten regularly, this dish will increase one's risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  It does not contribute well to the Healthy Plate Model as there is an excess amount of starch and meat and few vegetables (Government of Canada, 2016). It is possible to make this dish healthier byadding more vegetables, or substituting ground beef with a leaner meat.
