TAIWANESE 臺灣滷肉飯 (minced pork rice)

We selected Taiwanese cuisine and a recipe for the Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice.  This recipe was from Huang Jing long, 台灣小吃-圖解版(Taiwan snacks - graphic version)*,  published in 2012 by Cookbook Publishing.

We are interested in this cuisine because the Taiwanese culture is unique. The fact that Taiwan was colonized by Japan for decades means that the Japanese had a huge influence on the Taiwanese culture from, which includes their cuisine as well. Minced Pork Rice is one of the most popular dishes in Taiwan and is often considered to be one of the national dishes in Taiwan aside from beef noodles and green onion pancakes. The other reason that we chose this recipe would be because due to the sizable Taiwanese community we have here in Canada. This community would be extremely intrigued by this recipe as it will remind them of home.

This exhibit was created by Sheldon Wang Kit Ng (4th year, HAFA) and Heidi Tong (5th year, HAFA Co-op).
