About this recipe

DAN DAN MIAN

Dan Dan mian is considered an entree in Chinese cuisine because it contains a base (noodles) and protein (pork). Many traditional Chinese dishes contain rice or noodles as the base, and consists of a combination of vegetables and meat toppings.  The cookbook is informative and visually pleasing to look at because it contained many colourful photos. This was helpful because it not only had information on the Sichuan province, but it provided information about cuisine from different regions in China. Both authors of the cookbook are knowledgeable on Chinese cuisine. The recipe contained too much Sichuan peppercorn which made our tongues really uncomfortable and left a numbing feeling. The crunchy peanut butter added a great taste and improved the consistency of the sauce. Peanuts are quite common in China, as it is often eaten as a snack so it would have not been hard to find when the recipe originated.
