POPPY SEED STRUDEL

DOUGH:

  • 2 cups flour (approx.)
  • ¼ cup sugar (scant)
  • 1 bar unsalted butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp. milk, cold
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¾ oz. yeast
  • 1 egg white

POPPY SEED FILLING:

  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 cups ground poppy seeds
  • ¼ bar unsalted butter, melted
  • Rind of 1 lemon, grated
  • ¾ cup raisins
  • 2 bars or squares semisweet chocolate, grated (optional)
