MALAYSIAN FRAGRANT COCONUT RICE

I selected Malaysian cuisine and a recipe for Fragrant Coconut Rice. This recipe was from Christina Arokiasamy’s, The Malaysian Kitchen, which was published in 2017 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. This recipe may be of interest to 0.4% of Canadian immigrants, who are Malaysian, and to the 9% of Canadian immigrants who are from Southeast Asian countries. Worldwide there are 31.66 million Malaysians who enjoy rice daily. In addition, any individual who fancies Asian cuisine may appreciate this dish. I selected this recipe because rice is central to Malaysian culture and cuisine. In Malaysian homes, rice is at the centre of every meal. In addition, I wanted to choose a dish with mass appeal, to encourage further exploration into Malaysian cuisine.

This exhibit was created by Karissa Giraldi (year 4, Applied Human Nutrition).
