SPANISH APPLE TART

03AppleTartfromMadrid.jpg

We selected Spanish cuisine and a recipe for a Madrid Apple Tart. This recipe was from Penelope Casas, 1000 Spanish Recipes, which was published in 2014 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing. The apple tart we chose is a classic in Spanish cuisine, but our recipe in particular is favoured by the Madrileños of Spain. Our interest in Spanish cuisine stems from the diversity that their culture offers in terms of food; heavily influenced by regional cuisines and overflowing with historical influence. The decision to make a dessert was unanimous because we knew that there would be an abundance of indulgent and savoury choices. The apple tart from Madrid offers a rich spiced apple flavour with the simplicity of a tart shell to combine and create a dessert that is enjoyed by everyone.
