About this recipe

WIENER SCHNITZEL

What’s interesting about the German cuisine is that the recipe for Wiener Schnitzel originated in Austria. What’s interesting about The German Cookbook is that it was written in 1965. What sets it apart from a modern cookbook? It does not have any pictures! In fact, the author only used hand drawings to show the utensils, pans, etc. that are used to make traditional German food. None of the recipes have any photos. So, there is no indication of what each recipe should look or how you are supposed to serve it.

What’s interesting about the recipe is that it calls for 4-5 tablespoons of butter to fry, and 4-5 tablespoons of butter in the sauce, and when we made this we realized that we used even more butter was used than what was called for, to properly fry the schnitzel. This seems quite unhealthy and we were shocked to see how many of the calories came from fat.
