SZARLOTKA

  • Cut the margarine into the flour
  • Mix the egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla sugar in with the sour cream
  • Add all of the ingredients (not the apples) into the flour and make it into a dough
  • Put the dough into the fridge for about half an hour
  • Peel the apples and grate them with the large holes on the grater
  • Put half of the dough in the bottom of your pan, and then add the grated apples
  • Cover the apples with the other half of the dough and use a fork to put holes in the top
  • Bake the pie for about 20-30 minutes at 170-180 degrees Celsius

I translated this recipe from Polish to English as the book is written in Polish. Some steps that I changed was instead of just placing the dough on the pie, I grated the dough so that some of the excess heat from the inside can escape.
