This cookbook was written by Leela Punyaratabandhu, a Thai native currently residing in the United States. She decided to honour her mother’s memory by sharing her Thai recipes in a restaurant-menu recipe arrangement. The author opted to write the recipe in English, with hints of Thai language found throughout the book. Our chosen recipe happens to be one of the top Thai comfort foods, and a popular breakfast street food available on the streets of Bangkok. With her public-spirited view, Leela focused her book on three guiding principles: foundation, feasibility and fun. This means her readers have the chance to create classic Thai dishes with the use of affordable and nutritious ingredients. This is Leela’s only edition of the cookbook, which was published in 2014, and therefore would be very practical to make at the time it was published, with Ontario ingredients.
