About this recipe

The cookbook provides colourful, eye-catching visuals on almost every page. Featured pictures include kitchen utensils used in Indonesia, staple foods, and farms (i.e. Indonesian rice and corn fields).

The recipe is written in a straight forward, readable manner. All of the ingredients were easily accessible and not hard to find in the local grocery store. The instructions for the recipe also gave suggestions on additional ingredients to possibly add to the dish, like cucumbers and meat.

Indonesian cuisine is very diverse because it comprises a variety of ethnic groups and cultures. Therefore, there are many types of dishes with an array of cooking methods and ingredients. For example, nasi goreng actually originated in China, and then became adopted by Indonesian-Chinese descendants, and is now an everyday dish in the country.
